Choose the effect according to the use case
Retroreflective seams are most effective when illuminated by an external light source, such as vehicle headlights. Glow-in-the-dark embroidery creates a different visual effect after light exposure. Placement, viewing angle, stitch density and surrounding colours all influence the visible result.
Key factors to consider
- Required effect: Define whether the purpose is retroreflection, afterglow, decorative contrast or general visual orientation.
- Placement: Seams and embroidery should be positioned where they can be seen from the relevant viewing direction.
- Stitch design: Thread coverage, stitch density and embroidery digitising influence both appearance and functional effect.
- Abrasion and care: Reflective and luminous structures must retain their effect after processing and use.
- Certification: A reflective thread does not automatically make the finished product compliant with a high-visibility standard.
